Announcing a Blog

May 7, 2010

I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to the web, but with some encouragement and help from more net-savvy friends, I now have a Defusing the Nuclear Threat blog at http://nuclearrisk.wordpress.com/. I hope you'll add it to your RSS feed and suggest it to others who might be interested.

While related to the posts I've done via this email list, blogs have several advantages:

* You can add comments on the blog and become an active participant in the discussion.

* Some people are reluctant to register their email addresses, as is needed for this list. The blog doesn't require that, so it should get a wider audience.

* Blogs are less structured and more browsable.

I've populated the blog with a few posts to get started, including one of the most popular posts from this email list – "The Man in the TNT Vest," except there it's called "Common Sense is All You Need." I also created a new post "Katrina, The Great Recession, and Nuclear Weapons" that is based on part of a new talk I've been giving and which people seem to like.

Please post comments and suggestions on the blog, or email me at NuclearRisk@stanford.edu.

Thanks very much.

Martin
